  1. to find the area of a triangle you multiplie the hight times base then you divide it by two.

    for your problem you divide 77 by 2 to get 38.5 then you subtract 14 to get 24.5 and that is the answer.

    24.5 is the base

  2. Area of a triangle = 1/2 base x height

    written:  A = 1/2bh

    For your problem:

    A = 77

    h = 14

    b = ?

    Plug the values into the formula:

    77 = 1/2 b x 14

    To Solve:

    divide both sides by 14

    77/14 = 1/2 b x 14/14

    5.5 = 1/2 b

    multiply both sides by 2:

    5.5 x 2 = 1/2 b x 2

    11 = b

    the base is 11 units long.

  3. Area of triangle is bh/2. If you take half the height, you can work out the base.

    A = b×h/2

    77 = b×(14/2) = b×7, so b = 77/7 = 11

    Answer: 11 units.
