please don't use dA stuff... i can't understand it :))

the area of a right triangle is 30 sq. in and the sum of the squares of the sides is 338. find the lengths of each side

if it's a square root don't indicate it as decimals please. instead just use ex. sqrt(3-x)

thanks! i need solutions :)

  1. If x and y are the sides at right angles, (1/2) xy = 30 or y = 60/x.

    x^2 + y^2 + (x^2 + y^2) = 338 [ remember Pythagoras thm?]

    so x^2 + y^2 = 169= 13^2 [so try 5, 12, 13 triangle]

    So x = 5 and y = 12 or x = 12 and y = 5.
