Aren't President Thomas Jefferson's words as good today as they were yesterday?

He was not much of a talker but a great writer, and I do believe that he saw the world we have today very clearly for the warning he gave are as valid today or more so than they were then...

If the American People ever allow the banks to control the issuance of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers occupied. Jefferson was, perhaps, the wisest of our founding fathers. We owe him the honor and obligation to get off our collective couches, put down our remotes and stand up to fight and take our country back from the handful of wealthy elitists, corporate fat cats, industrialists, oil barons and power brokers who only want to become wealthier and more powerful - and who will stop at nothing to maintain the stranglehold they keep on a monopolistic, corrupt two-party system that allows voters little choice - and no voice - in our electoral process.

More than any one man, Jefferson realized that it requires courage, independent thinking, individualism and hard work to be a true patriot. Had he known what weak underbellies we would develop, Thomas Jefferson would almost certainly insisted that every American be required to take lifetime continuing education courses in democratic government and civics.  -RKO-   07/05/08

Yes, as elmjunburke said, we have fresher words to take the place of Jefferson's words.  Why would we need to refer to anything said by Jefferson when we have this guy?

He spent a whole life-time talking . I'm sure that many of his words are out-dated and no longer in use, but worry about it , we have other words to take their place .

No, why would they be. The world today is alot different. Only what words he help to add to the constitution, and that in itself is going to be revised from time to time. True, an almost perfect document, there is no perfection in man!!!
