Aren't digital picture frames wasteful? Isn't it silly that people spend a bunch of money on a little LCD screen so they can keep draining electricity to look at pictures when they could just have one real picture? It seems like it caters to the nonstop consumption crowd.

  1. Well you have to keep running them on electricity.  I would say so.  You know many things run on electricity all day every day..including digital phones, CD players, microwaves--anything with a clock on it.....you can save lots of energy only plugging in things when you need them :-)

  2. No, not really.  They are usually only turned on when company comes over and you want to display recent photos for everyones views.  It is not like they are on 24/7.

Think about this - if my frame can hold 1000 photos on it's memory card, then which really is more wasteful, the ink, paper, and man hours used to make 1000 photo prints, or 1 tiny memory card and a frame that gets turned on periodically?

  3. Yes indeed!  They are quite wasteful and rather useless..

  4. Well, if you're a minimalist, then if it isn't serving your minimal food and shelter requirements it is, indeed, wastefull.

  5. pretty much. the only advantage i can think of is not going through the hassle of not ordering prints for them. mainly designed for people who have a digital camera, but don't want to buy photo paper every time they want to display something.
