How many cups have they won this decade? How many winning seasons? They are not even winning the series this year, and i think detroit will win, so my answer is no.  the most succesful would probably be detroit, new jersey and Carolina.

I like the Pens. A lot. Have a lot of respect for your team. But....I am pretty sure the whole point of the play offs is to find out which team is the best team this season when the dust settles. It could have been one of the other teams, except they lost all their defensemen to injury, or whatever....Good luck to your team though. The Wings are going to be hard to beat.

Um....no.  You don't get 4 or 5 top 5 picks in the last 5 years or so being "the best".  They will become a great team.  However, they won't be able to sign Hossa after this season, they traded away some good talent, and Malkin won't be a franchise player.  He's too greedy.  Crosby will be there forever, Fleury maybe, it's too hard to tell yet.  When a player's used to making money in the NHL, it's hard for some to turn down huge contract offers from other teams.  Look at Mathieu Schneider's greedy @ss, took a ridiculous contract from Anaheim, and look where he is now, shanking golf balls in the woods.

you obviously arent from pittsburgh nor have you followed the pens before the crosby era.  how do you think we got such great players like fleury, malkin, crosby, staal.  high draft picks.  fleury and crosby were #1 picks.  Malkin a #2 pick behind ovechkin and staal i think was a #2 pick but i could be wrong.  i have been a pens fan my entire life and i can tell you that we were pathetic in the early part of the decade.  rico fata, milan kraft, d**k tarnstrom, konstantin koltsov.  have you ever heard of any of these people?  those were our "x-generation" .  trust me the pens were by far not even close to the best hockey team of the decade, but if they keep the core players in tact the next decade may be a different story.  LETS GO PENS

They are doing good right now, but they are 1 game down in the playoffs. So you can't even make that claim for this year. Talk again after they take a few presidents trophies and a few cups. Maybe in 10 years  you can make that claim.

Im a die-hard Penguins fan but they are not the best hockey team of the decade, they had some awful years.

This year I can say that they are the best team.

But the best team in the NHL is the Montreal Canadiens of course with 24 Stanley Cups under their name.

Which decade? The 90's, probably not but it would be their best argument. I'm a Penguins fan and unlike you I didn't just jump on the bandwagon. To say they are the team of the decade you must have jumped on the bandwagon and forget how bad they were like half the decade so far.

Have you watched the play off series at all this year? The Wings went nine strait including away games and have been the most perdominate team in the last 15 years. And heres a fact for all you pens fans Crosby will be begging for a contract with the wings next year so he at least has somewhat of a chance at holding that cup! or at least seeing it!

The reason they had all of those high draft picks was due to being the worst team in the league. Remember Sidney's first year? How long did it take them to win their first game?
