Can you imagine what it would be like if the Roddick was treated at the US Open like Murray and Henman are treated at Wimbledon?

Talk about obnoxious sports fans........

  1. yes. i dont think wed have as many non american players in the us open if they were all treated like that

  2. Murray is not ******* English he is Scottish you d**k

  3. I enjoy their spirit.  I love when the people get into the games it makes it more exciting.  Americans behave like that and worst when they have their baseball.  it is the same.  You pay to go enjoy a game and it is even better when a neighbor's son is doing well.  He is Scottish and he is winning them over now.

  4. Give the Brits a break dude!!! Gosh its not like they act like this for every single match that is being played. They have waited a very long time for one of their own to come along who can really win Wimbledon, and now they have a guy that they can route for!!! They deserve this!!!

Besides ESPN commentator Chris Fowler made an interesting point today when he said that even though the fans were rowdy and obnoxious in their support at times, it would have been far worse had this match been a 4th round match at the French Open where Gasquet would have been the home favorite.

The French fans would have applauded every winner made by their guy, Gasquet and applauded every mistake made by Murray and booing every winner that Murray made in the match.

Did you see the Brits booing the winners that Gasquet made? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They only cheered for Murray whenever he hit a great shot and made a winner, and only when it became apparent that their guy had a chance of winning did they start to applaud the Gasquet errors late in the fourth and fifth sets. But this is something that happens in every other match.

So as much as we want to put down the Brits for their rowdy support, we should remember that when it comes to fans cheering for one guy only in a match, the Brits show far more respect and class that many other countries and supporters, especially the French..

  5. No way, the English are AMAZING

  6. Yea, I was watching the commentators on ESPN and they were all British and they were talking about how much better the UK was doing then the US. I was thinking they should save the country competition for the Olympics.

It's good to have a home country advantage, but they were being a bit obnoxious.

  7. I agree, but the brits really want a win from one of their own, the last time the title was in british hands was back before ww2 in 1936 by Fred Perry
