Aren't you glad that you're a Versus subscriber?

I saw a report on TSN that Versus is bringing back the highlighted puck next year. Isn't it nice that they realize that American viewers need help in finding the puck.

  1. All I can say is that if this is true...WOW. I agree with Lubers. Have they not learned from history?

  2. VS has become annoying!!!

First off, through my current service I can't get VS HD!!!  That is annoying in itself.

Second, they don't partner with local stations to show local teams in the playoffs.

This might be one of the single DUMBEST TV contracts in all of sports, at least as it relates to the League.

I flip around and I see a ton of NBA Playoff coverage and several way to actually see the games...mind you I only watch the NBA because it's actually on all the freakin time...I can't stand the game as it is slow and BORING!!!

But again, it on everywhere...as is Baseball...another yawner for me.

I crave Hockey, but only get it for brief moments...and then the games are on some crappy network.

Not to mention, they have NO idea how to use the commentators during the games.  Oh how I miss listening to my local broadcast team...

Heck, fortunately the Radio broadcast is actually the TV Guys...so I have worked with the VS view and delayed it so that I can listed to my radio with the VS on...keeps me from having to hear the poor VS audio.

If only I could have the full HD.

At least Saturdays game will be on NBC and in FULL HD!!!

By the way...those of you that have Center ICE...is the broadcast in HD?  and does Center ICE cover the playoffs?

  3. Well, when I'm watching a Hockey game, I'm watching the game, I don't pay whole lot of attention to the commentators or any other BS. So I guess I don't have the same problems that everyone else has w/ VS. And as far as I'm concerned, the quality of the HD reception is phenomenal, so I can't really complain. As for the glowing puck, that's something I could do w/o, but I think (hope) Tangers is right. ^

I also pay for the Center Ice Package, so I don't always have to watch VS during the regular season.

  4. I'm sure there are hundred's nay thousands out there that think hockey is just a bunch of guys on skates swinging their sticks around and hitting other players! "What puck"??  LOL!

**** Will they also be bringing back the glowing "tail" flame??

  5. Versus has bad commentating.  I am happy they play the NHL, but it was horrible how they hung on the nuts of the Cryers last night.

  6. Versus is so biased. I would have thought I was watching a feed from Philly instead of the national coverage last night.

I am American and have no need for the highlighted puck. Quit generalizing and being elitist.

  7. Yes and they must have bought all the glow pucks for $20 on eBay.

As a life-long American and hockey fan, I take umbrage with the idea that 'American viewers need help in finding the puck'.

    Grow up.

  8. I'm also gald i am an American

    dumbass Canidiot

  9. They crossed the line when they spelled Megadeth as Megadeath.  I guess that is what Dave Mustaine gets for his little Flyers promo.

  10. This is perhaps the MOST short sighted idea that the NHL and/or Versus has had following the lockout.  I assume that since Versus is a Comcast entity we can expect this technology to make it to the Flyers local broadcasts.

I say this is short sighted because of the rise in HDTV.  That alone has nearly solved the issues of watching hockey on television and makes the puck very easy to follow.  When are they going to learn from their mistakes?

  11. seriously?Thank god for the center ice package.I wont have to watch VS until the playoffs next year.

  12. Thank goodness!  I was wondering how I was going to be able to last another season.  There just isn't enough contrast between black and white.  I haven't enjoyed the game of ICE hockey since the Glow Puck on the best sports network ever.....Fox.  <<Sarcasim>>

.......Maybe one day people will realize that if you can't follow the puck  you need to:

    A)  Get an eye exam and a pair of glasses

    B)  Stop watching hockey on a 13 inch television

    C)  Stop watching hockey.....if your eyes and brain are unable to communicate that fast, then you do not deserve to watch such a wonderful game

    D) All of the above

  13. I wonder if they are going to use a glowing arrow on the deer hunting shows on Versus.

  14. Holy c**p folks we are in the presence of a real NHL player now.  Colby Armstrong welcome to YA Answers.  I can't believe we have a former first round pick on here.

  15. Actually it's for Nunavut residents who just this past year got TV service - Americans get reruns of the 2002 season.

  16. I think that is retarted because i know were the puck is all the time i never loose it and any good hockey fan wont loose it that will just get in the way and be annoying

  17. Read it again, the highlighted puck that they MIGHT bring back will only be used for replays.

  18. Link?

  19. Who watches the puck anyway? It will just be a distraction for some of us who watch for plays and positions. For the next gimmick, maybe they can get it to talk.
