Arent american songs stupid? the lyrics dont make any sense?

Why pick on only American songs? Let's go around the world and look for stupid songs, shall we?

We'll start with the UK.

I've seen some British songs that are exceptionally stupid, too...this is from the music hall era on down to the rock era. Can someone say I'm Henery VII I am?

Just look at some of the songs the Beatles wrote and sung such as Octopuses Garden or I am the Walrus or Maxwell Silverhammer.  Very nonsensical...

Think about it: does the Rolling Stones "Jumping Jack Flash it's a gas, gas, gas" really make any sense?  or how about Lola by the Kinks?

Now let's cross the channel...

How about the French children's song "Alouette"? In translation, that song is not only stupid, but just plain sick...it talks about dismembering a bird!  Frerer Jaques is stupid, too.

Back in the 90s, there was a popular "schlager" song in Germany called Katzen Klo. It was about a litterbox of all things! Now that's stupid if you ask me.

How about MOST of the songs in the Swedish group ABBA's music catalogue? Yeah, I like ABBA but can one say any of their work was truly meaningful and made sense? Dancing Queen? Please.

How about Take On Me by the Norweigian group A-Ha? Now that song made no sense whatsoever but it was still fun to listen to, wasn't it?

back to the Western Hemisphere...

How about the Mexican song "La cucharacha".... singing about a cockroach and how you can't walk because you don't have enough marijuana to smoke?

I could go on and on, but you get the idea...

You cant really generalize an entire country because SOME songs are stupid. But i agree alot of this Rap/ Hip Hop c**p is pretty bad. But the beat is fun so no one really cares.

I am American and I must agree those songs you listed do have really stupid lyrics.

I really hate the Rihanna song "Umbrella".
