  1. Yes, it is.  The strictest definition of vegetable is that it is part of the plant, but not the ovary.  The ripened ovary is a fruit.  However, some people consider fibrous and non-sweet fruits "vegetables".  

    Fun trivia:  To allow hamburgers and fries to be school lunches, ketchup was classified as a vegetable.  Gotta love the government.

    it's what my mom taught me. she never gave a reason why, but they ARE vegetables. hahaha =P coz there are also lots of different kinds of cucumbers. =P
