Question:

Aren’t the Braves sad?

Nothing goes against the Mets here. They have a good team and they are now playing up to their potential and I think David Wright should win MVP. It is a very good turnaround for the Mets.

But the Braves!!! Are they trying to lose or something? First game, lead into 8th inning, reliever start to walk people and lose the game. Second game, 2 errors 5 runs scores in the first inning and that is the game. Third game, again lead into 7th inning, errors because the infielders cannot see the ball.

I know the injuries, big trades and all. This is worse than an AAA team playing. Before the trade of Tex, at least I feel they are playing hard and try to win games. Now they are just bunch of walking dead and trying to get the season over with. Even the Bobby Cox loses faith to his players with negative comments. I think he is definitely going to retire because he is losing his passion and patience about his team.

Fans, give your 2 cents. Suggestions, opinions or anything.

  1. Braves are not just sad, but have been highly over rated for quite some time. This isnt the 90's, early 2000 when they "dominated", and were successful due to the fact that the division rivals were mostly inconsistent.  Their steady demise started when they rid Glavine, not to mention shifting Smoltz from a SP to reliever. Then slowly ridding whatever potential pitchers they had, along with their offense, starting with Andruw Jones, who seems to show he can only play in Atlanta. Besides Chipper and McCann, what offense do they have, and what starters do they have? Each year out of habit, they are mentioned to contend, but in actuality, are, and were highly over rated. Now that Mets, Philly, and Florida can contend, Atlanta is a has been.

  2. Well, I think you should look around the league. Before the Braves turned into "walking dead", I'm sure there were other teams just like them. As for your triple-A comment, obviously you don't understand sports all that much. Sure, the best triple-A team could probably compete on some days with a few major league teams, but in the end there is a huge difference in overall talent. I also think you must realize that it is hard for a bad team to compete for an entire game. Eventually, your lack of skill will show up. Plus, the Braves bullpen has had problems for like the last few years not just two of the last three nights.

  3. They've gone "full circle," They're right where they were in the late 1980's.

What they need to do is move all marketable players and "re-stock" the farm system.

  4. Not a Braves fan but they lost too many 1 run games & that to me says they were in the game most of times & could be a player or two away from really being a top contender & if & I know if is a big word but if the Braves would have won half of the 1 run games they lost, they could be in first place

  5. Every season you have (1) winner and (29) losers, so it will be back to the drawing board for the Braves just like (28) other teams.

  6. The injury bug was a big issue for the Braves this season. I'm a die-hard braves fan, but it is sad to see it happen like this. They invested too much in old arms and didn't pull under producing players when they should have.

Kelly Johnson shouldn't be playing in the major leagues.

It is sad, next year won't be much better. Give me a few years and let their prospects mature and get some quality leadership from players like Brian McCann. They have good players now, things just aren't gelling.

  7. I was at the second game the other night, and it was embarrassing to watch the Braves even though I'm a Mets fan. They used to be such a great team and now they're doing terrible.

  8. The Braves are in a process of  slowly rebuilding that team.  You have hurt starters like Hudson and Smoltz that either will retire soon or be traded elsewhere for prospects(alot of wasted salaries here).  Glavine is close to retiring as well(another large salary).  You have Chipper Jones that probably will be traded before he retires in 3-5 years.  They have a decent core of younger players like McCann, K johnson, Jurrjens, and Blanco that they can build around.  Also no one could expect the Braves to be the team from the 90's and early 2000's.  That was one of the best NL dynasties ever even though they only won 1 World Series.

  9. They are a shell of what they once where.

  10. Well with this loss it adds up to (5),Let's go Mets !

  11. What goes up must come down.

Remember, Frank Wren didn't do such a hot job in Baltimore either.
