Argaum dominant in the lineup for the Racing Welfare Selling Hurdle at Ludlow on 5th April
Ludlow is to become home for the Class 5 Racing Welfare Selling Hurdle over two miles on Thursday, 5th April. The five on the lineup for today’s race include Argaum, Aviso, Nicky Nutjob, Smalib Monterg and Wahan. The purse for the race is set
at £2, 599.
The one to have raced most recently at Ludlow is Argaum, Medicean’s five-year-old chestnut gelding out of mare Poppy Carew. His third start of the new season was at Ludlow.
Argaum finished third in the Edgecliff High School Novices’ Claiming Hurdle over two miles on 28th March. The race was won by the 100/30 joint favourite, Bin End, who led the track by four and a half length. Argaum was the other joint favourite
of the race.
A Little Bit Dusty was the runner up of the race.
Through the three starts that the five-year-old undertook during the new season, the third one was the best in a way that it was better than the fifth and sixth positions that he accumulated in the initial starts.
His season rolled off with the Bathwick Tyres Novices’ Handicap Hurdle on 7th January at Wincanton over two miles. The race was won by the 11/10 favourite , Chesil Beach Boy, who was soon followed by Minella Special.
Argaum could manage the fifth position himself on the lineup that comprised of six contestants.
An entry who has won four times out of the ten races that he took part in is Aviso, Tertullian’s eight-year-old bay gelding out of mare Akasma. One of those victories was at Ludlow.
He won the Ludlow For Functions Selling Hurdle on 19th January at Ludlow over two miles. Paired with Lee Stephens, he led the runner up of the race, Cityar, by 1 ¾ length.
Concluding the race third was Commerce while the 2/1 favourite of the race, Swiss Art, could only manage the fourth position.
Besides the victory, the interesting fact about this race was that it entitled Aviso of a hat trick. The two races that he was a part of before this one, were victories too.
Despite the four victories, Aviso was declared unraced and then stumbled on to an eighth position in the last two starts.
He does have the chances of claiming the race today but will get threatened by Argaum.
