Argentina defeats Trinidad & Tobago 3-1 in a Pan American Cup match – Volleyball news

A Pool A match of the Men's VII Pan American Cup took place on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 between Argentina and Trinidad & Tobago in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The venue of the competition was the Ricardo Arias sports hall which had an audience of 50
spectators. The match went on to four sets after which Argentina remained successful in defeating Trinidad & Tobago.
Argentina took a total of one hour and 30 minutes to bag the match at the following final set scores: 25-10, 25-18, 24-26 and 25-11.
Fabian Muraco, the coach of the Argentinean squad, shared his views on the outcome of the match in the following manner, “If yesterday the Dominicans showed maturity to prevent the same from the opponents, my players showed their youth today. We can’t have
that luxury tomorrow because we play the home side and if we don’t play at one hundred percent we put on risk the chances of success.”
On the other hand, the coach of Trinidad & Tobago, Gideon Dickson, had the following comments to make at the press conference after the match, “We learned from the way they played and I hope my team can improve I the remainder of the tournament.”
The lead scorer of the match was the Argentinean player Mariano Giustiniano as he put up 16 points for his side. Giustiniano was helped by his team mate Gonzalo Quiroga and Gonzalo Lapera who added 15 and 12 points respectively to keep the pressure on their
opponents. On the other hand, the highest points secured on the Trinidad & Tobago side were by Marc Honore as he made his presence felt by tallying a score of 15.
The first set of the match gave the lead away to Argentina early on and they were able to extend the gap significantly. The Trinidad & Tobago squad tried to overcome the deficit but the Argentineans were going on too strong to let go of their advantage.
As a result, it was only a matter of time before Argentina bagged the opening set of the game at 25-10.
The Trinidad & Tobago squad was able to step up their performance in the second set of the match as they were able to keep the score level for the most part. However, the Argentineans propelled themselves forwards and went on to secure the second set at
25-18.
Trinidad & Tobago put on a good show in the third set of the match that led to the lead slipping towards them. Argentina was found struggling as the Trinidad & Tobago squad dominated the courts. As a result, Trinidad & Tobago avoided a clean sweep by bagging
the frame at 26-24.
Argentina did not relent in the fourth set and swept ahead with the advantage from the beginning of the frame and took no time in sealing the deal at 25-11.
