Argentina head coach Javier Weber hopeful of playing final – 2011 FIVB World League
Like the other participants of the 2011 FIVB World League, Team Argentina is also preparing for the upcoming international event of 2011 FIVB World League, which is scheduled to start on May 27.
A total of 16 teams from around the world will join the competition. The Argentinean squad which settled for 5th position in the previous edition of the competition is hopeful to improve their ranking this year. The team will play under the command
of head coach, Javier Weber, who has led his team to success many a times.
Weber is full of ambition that his team will make it to the Final Round for third time. The players in white and sky blue outfits are working on their skills to cope with the power of stronger teams of the competition.
Argentina will play in Pool C in the robin round stage. They will be joined by teams from Serbia, Argentina and Portugal. Team Argentina has been running extensive training over the past few weeks, in order to create a spark on the centre court.
They are giving a final touch to their training and practice this week. Weber has put a lot of efforts to develop his young guns into a world class team. The Argentinean players will get a chance to showcase their extraordinary skills as the championship
gets underway in the last week of May.
Weber clearly stated that their first goal is to clinch a slot in the top eight teams of the tournament.
Speaking of his line-up, he stated, “This is a new team who played at the World Championships in Italy last year, has a good chemistry and all we need to work on is the technical and tactical. Today we are starting with the entire campus.”
The Argentinean team will open the championship by taking on Serbia on May 28. The match against Serbia will be a real test of temperament for the Argentinean squad. Serbia settled for bronze medal in the 2010 FIVB World League. The Serbs will surely be
trying to do better this time. Argentina will be featuring against Serbia in the first two matches of the preliminary robin round of World League.
Weber said that Serbia is very much similar to Finland for them. Nonetheless, the Argentinean team will try to open the tournament on a good note.
Moreover, Weber stated with confidence that his team can easily beat the other two Pool members.
