Argentina starts preparation for 2012 CSV Men’s Continental Olympic Qualification Tournament
After missing the first step of qualification for the 2012 London Olympic Games at the FIVB World Cup in Japan last year, the men’s national volleyball team of Argentina is looking forward to avail the second chance in coming May.
The CSV Men’s Continental Olympic Qualification Tournament, which is scheduled to take place in Almirante Brown, Argentina from May 11 to 15, will create a perfect opportunity for men in ‘sky blue and white’ to reserve a berth in the Summer Olympics.
Argentinean team has the support of experienced head coach, Javier Weber who is currently putting extreme effort to prepare the team for upcoming challenge. In addition to the individual training, the Argentinean squad is supposed to travel to Cuba and USA
in order to play friendly matches with the hosts.
The current roster of the national team of Argentina features Lucas Ocampo, Mariano Giustiniano, Gabriel Arroyo, Iván Castellani, Federico Pereyra, Federico Martina, Pablo Crer, Maximiliano Cavanna, Martín Blanco Costa, Sebastián Solé, Franco López, Guillermo
García, Guido Romanutti and Cristian Poglajen and the team is training at the Cenard facilities.
In the running week, the Argentinean team received more players in the form of Nicolás Bruno, Facundo Santucci, Maximiliano Gauna, and Nicolás Uriarte for Boca, Pablo Bengolea, and Demián González, who proved their endeavours at the ACLAV Argentine A1 Men’s
League finals. The new players will also be featured on the tour to Cuba and USA, where team will be split into two groups.
The team is working hard ahead of the Olympic qualifiers and it will surely prove helpful to live up the dream of playing at the Olympics. Additionally, the current training of Argentinean squad will benefit it at the 2012 FIVB World League, which will run
from May 18 to July 8. Argentina will face host of the Final Round Bulgaria in the opening round of the World League.
At the Olympic Qualification Tournament, Argentina will enjoy certain advantage for being the host of the act. With a mix bag of fresh and experience players, Team Argentine has good chances to claw its way to the Olympics.
