As the second half got underway in Argentina, Sergio http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gustavo-c15404 Quinteros seemed to be satisfied with his starting line-up.
The Bolivian coach’s plan on to sticking to the strategy paid off as early as three minutes into the second half. While the Argentineans were still trying to organize themselves after the change made by Sergio Batista, Bolivians won a corner kick which was taken perfectly by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jhasmani-Campos-c18490. The Bolivian number 7, Edvaldo Rojas Hermoza received the ball perfectly inside the 18 yard box and he swiftly back heeled it towards the Argentinean goal.
There was a slight confusion between http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 midfielder Ever Banega, who could not control the ball on the goal line and managed to slip it inside the back of the net. Despite Romero’s dive, the ball still managed to travel enough to find the back of the net and the goal was awarded to the Bolivian team.
It was a shocking sight in Ciudad de La Plata as the favourites to winning the competition were trailing against the Bolivian team.
The Argentinean man Ezequiel Lavezzi showed some burst of pace on the right wing – the position which he shifted to, after the inclusion of Angel Di Maria. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-c8346 Tevez moved to the centre forward position while Lionel Messi dropped back into the attacking midfield. Angel Di Maria took the left wing while Ever Banega and Javier Mascherano partnered up in the midfield.
It was a horrific match for Ever Banega who seemed to be all over the place in the midfield. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Captain-c8314. All the tackles he made were spot on and he never really slipped up throughout the game.
Angel Di Maria started to show his magic on the left wing soon. The Real Madrid youngster managed to get past three Bolivian players until he entered the 18 yard box and was taken down by the Bolivian captain.
Another shaky moment came in for the Argentinean http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Romero-c33100. The Argentinean goal stopper stepped up and despite Hermoza’s attempt to dribble past Romero, the Argentinean goalkeeper did well to help his side remain in the game.
The Argentineans made another change as they took off http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ezequiel-Lavezzi-c13073 and brought on the Atletico Madrid star striker Sergio Aguero just to add a little bit of individual brilliance on the wings.
Aguero’s introduction was electrifying as the Argentinean striker received the ball on the right wing, dribbled past three Bolivian players and attempted to score with his left foot. Even though the shot taken couldn’t find the target, it was an attempt that came after a long dry spell of possession keeping by the Argentineans.
Soon the Argentineans started making better opportunities on goal. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 was taken down in the quarter line and the Argentinean number 10 took a quick free kick and delivered it to Angel Di Maria on the left wing. Di Maria crossed the ball in towards Ever Banega who chested the ball towards Sergio Aguero, who perfectly volleyed the ball home and equalized.
After the equalizing goal, the Argentinean team seemed to be totally different in terms of going forward. Sergio Batista’s men were now confident with Aguero included in the first team. The Atletico Madrid star troubled the Bolivian back line timelessly and took another shot on target which was kept out by Carlos http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arias-c6476 – the Bolivian goal stopper.
Bolivians were able to hold off the Argentineans just enough to end the game as a draw. With this game ending on level terms for both the teams, it means that they are a point each in group A.
The first game of the Copa America 2011 and the first upset of the tournament has been produced by the Bolivians who managed to draw the game and also led for a while against a team which is considered favourites to winning the competition. Argentina tried to find the winner but they couldn’t despite having most of the possession of the ball.
