Argentina vs. Colombia – Full Time Report – Copa http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390 2011
The first half between the two sides ended in a goalless draw. Even though the Argentineans seemed to be stronger as the referee blew his whistle to start the game, Colombia became better as time passed by. The hosts kept on trying to settle on the ball
but the outstanding pressure play by the Colombians did not allow the Argentineans to keep hold of the ball for a long time.
As the second half kicked off there were no changes made by both the teams. Angel Di Maria was expected to come on during the second half but Sergio http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Batista-c7379 had other plans.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ezequiel-Lavezzi-c13073 was replaced by Sergio Aguero – the goal scorer of the only goal
scored by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 in the competition.
Colombians looked quite comfortable with their starting eleven and their coach Hernan Gomez did not change anything and stuck to his plan.
There was nothing much to look forward to in the second half. There were barely any goal scoring chances created by both the teams. The first half was nothing close to the first – full of goal scoring opportunities from both the teams.
The second half saw Colombia’s counter attacking side while the Argentineans rushed forward in desperation to find a goal for themselves. The Argentinean crowd was getting restless; especially with their team failing to win for the second time in the competition.
The first http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 star took a shot from 25 yards out. It seemed as if the ball was dipping to find the back of the net but the Colombian goal stopper,
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martinez-c24468 was positioned perfectly to punch the ball to safety.
Exactly ten minutes later, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-c33030 Aguero making a diagonal run, Tevez’s shot was
blocked by him and an outstanding goal scoring opportunity was wasted by the Argentineans.
Colombians were not worried about scoring goals as a draw would mean that they would have more chances of topping the group. Colombia won their first game while the Argentineans drew which means that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Colombia-c2873 have more of a chance of topping their group
than the Argentineans.
After Tevez’s shot was blocked, the Colombians made a quick counter attack and found Armero up front. The Colombian man decided to try his luck from long range and the ball seemed to be on target but Sergio Romero was able to thump the ball clear to save
the day for his team.
The Colombians then had a healthy number of chances on goal. Three minutes later Falcao was played clear by Armero. The Porto striker made a dashing run from the right flank and perfectly positioned himself to take a shot on goal. Falcao took his shot on
goal after outrunning http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gabriel-Milito-c14321 but Sergio Romero was again on his toes to deny the Colombians an outstanding goal scoring opportunity.
After this block, the Argentineans retained a lot of possession in the midfield while the Colombians held to their positions and organized themselves. An attack saw Gonzalo Higuain on the left flank receiving the ball. The Argentinean striker who came on
during the second half in place of Ever Banega, decided to take his shot on goal. The shot was well struck but Martinez was yet again the saviour for the Colombians.
The Colombians had an outstanding opportunity to win the game towards the end of the game. During the 88th minute Nicolas Burdisso gifted Colombia with the ball in the midfield. The substitute striker, Gutierrez could easily role the ball towards
Moreno, who was making an off the ball run on the right; however, Gutierrez took his shot on goal and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Romero-c33100 caught the ball to keep his team into the game.
The match ended in a goalless draw. With this draw, Colombia are topping the group with four points while the Argentineans are still at two points with two draws. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 was booed off the ground after a poor performance given by the Argentinean team.
