Zuniga, the right back, also had a good game compared to Armero who was being troubled by Lionel Messi time and time again.
Guarin featured in the holding midfield position and he was one of the best players for the Colombians throughout the night. He broke play so many times that the Argentineans seemed to be frustrated at him.
Sanchez played in the centre midfield role alongside Aguilar. Both the players had an outstanding game. The Colombians outnumbered the Argentineans’ three-man midfield by playing five midfielders. Falcao and Moreno often fell deep into the midfield to add two more players to the heart of the pitch and it made life miserable even for the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296.
Ramos played up front as a sole striker but Falcao often switched positions with him to change the cause of the game. With Falcao’s amazing runs, the Colombians often found themselves in goal scoring position. However, they couldn’t really take advantage of it.
In the second half, the Argentineans replaced Cambiasso with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Mascherano-c18071 who played in the holding midfield position.
Colombians made very late changes which didn’t really affect the cause of the game. However, when Gutierrez was introduced, a new striker was added and a sudden goal scoring opportunity was created by the Colombians.
It was a tactically weak game played by the Argentineans. They could easily play Lionel Messi on the right wing where he is comfortable while Carlos Tevez could feature in the centre forward role. There was no Angel Di Maria, the player who delivered the killer ball last time against the Bolivians. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Pastore-c18082 needs to come on for Ever Banega to add more creativity in the midfield. However, the change in the defensive selection brought something positive to the team.
Colombians, just like the Bolivians, were very well arranged and beautifully organized. They simply played by putting up pressure on the Argentinean midfielders to retain the ball. If one Argentinean had the ball, they charged forward to get it back and closed down spaces so that no one can dribble or pass the ball forward. The best chance in the game was created by Lionel Messi who gave a wonderful through ball to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ezequiel-Lavezzi-c13073 who couldn’t find the back of the net.
On the other hand, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gabriel-Milito-c14321 gifted the Colombians with an opportunity of a lifetime when he passed the ball back to Ramos who passed it towards Moreno. Moreno had an open goal in front of him, without a goalkeeper but he couldn’t find the back of the net.
The match ended in a goalless draw which means that Argentina will have to win their last game of the group stages in hope that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bolivia-c2855 wins against Colombia so the Argentineans can top their group.
