Argentina vs. Costa Rica – Player Ratings for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 – Copa America 2011 (Part 1)
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Romero-c33100 – 7.0:
The Argentinean goal stopper was rarely called into action. However, he did step up whenever he was needed by the team. It was during the second half of the match when he made the best save of the game. Romero has been giving out extraordinary performances for the Argentinean team. He had a wonderful game against Bolivia and deserved a clean sheet; he was outstanding against Colombia despite the fact that his team wasn’t performing at its best; and he was fabulous against Costa Rica and made two crucial saves to keep his clean sheet.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Zanetti-c18096 – 7.5:
He was the most experienced Argentinean player on the pitch and he showed why he is crucial in Sergio Batista’s first team. Not only did he manage to break play, he was phenomenal while making a move forward. Even though he is naturally a right footed player, he was played in the left back role by Sergio Batista – just like the last game against Colombia. Zanetti rarely allowed attacks to breach through his one-man wall. The Argentinean full back had a phenomenal game just like most of the Argentinean team.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pablo-Zabaleta-c29022 – 7.5:
Dictated play in the right back position. After an impressive game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Defence-c38904 is still very much flawed with the inclusion of Nicolas Burdisso and Gabriel Milito. Zabaleta managed to provide the team with outstanding defensive play on the right flank and he also helped the team with his pace as he made a run forward to contribute in the team’s attack.
Gabriel Milito – 6.0:
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Costa-Rica-c2877, he was rarely tested by the young Costa Rican striker Campbell often got the best out of him. Costa Ricans were 10 men behind the ball and the Argentinean centre back was barely tested because of this strategy.
Nicolas Burdisso – 6.5:
Burdisso has partnered Gabriel Milito in all the matches played by the Argentinean team. Even though Milito is the one who becomes a part of criticism, Burdisso has not managed to shine so much either. With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-c33030 Aguero which found Burdisso’s header inside the penalty area. His headed effort managed to hit the cross bar and that was the first closest opportunity created by the Argentinean team.
