Even though Higuain collected it perfectly, he still couldn’t find the back of the net as Muslera closed down all the options for him.
Lionel Messi came on the attack the next time and the Argentinean maestro got past the whole Uruguayan defensive wall singlehandedly as the crowd saw the ball stuck on to his feet. Just when everyone thought that the ball was going to find the back of the net, Scotti slid in and blocked Messi’s shot on goal. It was simply an outstanding save made by the Uruguayan man.
The second half substitute Javier Pastore had the opportunity to score from a volley but his shot was simply to wayward to beat Muslera who was on a role throughout the game.
The extra time ended and the match went on to penalties.

Next, it was Nicolas Burdisso who stepped up and scored for the Argentineans with an outstanding penalty kick; on the other hand, it was Luis Suarez who stepped up to put it back on level terms for the Uruguayans.

The Uruguayans sent Scotti who scored and found the back of the net to give the Uruguayans a goal’s advantage.

Gargano stepped up for the Uruguayans and gave them the lead with his penalty.
Gonzalo Higuain was the player who stepped up next to take the penalty for the Argentineans. Caceres had to score on the last penalty to put the Uruguayans through to the semi finals. Caceres sent the keeper the wrong way and found the back of the net.
