Argentina vs. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390 2011 (Part 2)
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Gago-c13652 – 6.0:
Gago was one of the replacements made by Sergio http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Costa-Rica-c2877, he was not the same against the Uruguayans. He couldn’t really keep the ball for a long time throughout the
second half even though the Uruguayans were a man down. Gago tried to dictate play from the centre midfield position but he lacked the passing skills required at the heart of the pitch. He was replaced by Biglia during extra time because he injured himself.
Angel Di Maria – 6.5:
Angel Di Maria was phenomenal throughout the second half of the game. The Argentinean man couldn’t really show his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Skills-c40539 in the first half but he did manage to impress while dribbling past the Uruguayan defenders. He showed great skills on the left flank
and found himself in dangerous positions but his final ball usually lacked perfection. Over all it was just an average performance by the Argentinean and that is the reason why he was replaced by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Pastore-c18082 in the second half.
Lionel Messi – 8.0:
The Argentinean maestro and the two times World Player of the Year was the best Argentinean player on the pitch. He was the inspiration behind almost everything positive created by the Argentinean side. The Uruguayans took an early lead in the first half
but his outstanding left footed cross found Higuain and the Real Madrid man headed the ball in to equalize. He tried to repeat the same technique with a free kick and it found Higuain again. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 Madrid centre forward again found the back of the net but
he was flagged offside. He created a few goal scoring opportunities and even tried his luck on goal but he was not lucky enough to find the back of the net. His penalty in the shoot out was perfectly placed as he was the first player to take the penalty.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-c33030 Aguero – 7.0:
Aguero couldn’t really impress just as must as he did in his previous games. He was outstanding during the first half but he was mostly silent and looked tired during the second half. The want-away Atletico Madrid star dribbled past the whole Uruguayan http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Defence-c38904
during the 15th minute but he couldn’t really find the space to take his shot on goal and chipped his effort right in Muslera’s safe hands.
Gonzalo Higuain – 8.0:
Higuain was the second best Argentinean player during the night. He managed to take a lot of shots on goal throughout the game. He was the main inspiration behind the Argentinean attack as Sergio Aguero did not look to be at his best. Higuain scored the
equalizing goal in the first half and later almost scored the winning goal as well. He was found in dangerous positions a lot of times but he couldn’t really convert his chances. He combined well with Lionel Messi and he could easily have won it for the Argentineans
but he failed to do so. The best moment for him, besides the goal, came during the second half. It was when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296’s pass found his feet inside the penalty area and he made a stunning left footed effort which was saved perfectly by Muslera.
