Argentina whitewash Chile in the third game by a fatal 7-0: Hockey News
Argentina outfit crushed the visiting team Chile with a fearsome 7-0 win in the last game of the friendly series, played on May 19 at Cenard in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The head coach, Pablo Lombi, was convinced with the team’s performance in the series, with a solitary series-victory by 3-0 on winning the three matches 2-1, 4-0 and 7-0 respectively.
The star of the match was Matias Paredes, who scored a hat-trick during the third match against Chile.
In the first half of the match, Argentina was found dominating the field with the ball possession. They managed to score three goals over Chile until half-time.
In the second half, the host team presented a better game with a boosted pace and fluency in attacks. Resultantly, they ended the game with four more additions to the score-board at 7-0, by the end of the match.
Apart from the three goals sealed by Paredes, the other four goals were delivered by Francisco Menini, Germain Gonzalez, Alan Andino and Matias Herrero. Conclusively, the series closed in favour of Argentina with a single-handed win their home test
by 3-0.
Paredes commented at the end of the match, "We played a very good game. Chileans were much higher."
He also said that this series was a good practice for both the youth and the experienced players that were blended into a team for the first time by a screening panel.
Moreover, young players got to play their international debut match in this series like Gonzalo Peillat and few also managed to out-shine with scores on board like Andino, Menini and Herrero.
Besides the series, both the teams also underwent a training camp set at the same venue from May 16-19.
Lombi was happy that Argentina finished the friendly series undefeated against Chile and stated, "I am very satisfied with the work done by the team in these games. We were very superior to Chile."
Parades stated that although these were friendly series, the scores were good. These will help in enhancing the confidence level of the players for the upcoming Pan American Games in order to score real goals that will be counted at the international
level.
Argentina made a total of 13 goal points whereas Chile scored just one throughout the three-Test series.
