Argentina’s Men's hockey team training for European Tour concludes: Hockey News
Argentina Men's hockey team’s training for this week concluded and the players have now been given a break until June 21, so that the synthetic turf laid at the CENARD venue gets cleaned up and is ready to use.
The training camp was missing many key players due to their already committed contract to play on the league for their clubs in Europe. These players will also join up the squad until the camp for training resumes on June 21. Moreover, they will be trained
for two weeks at the venue where they will be stressed to improve their stamina and drills.
This preparation is being done for the European Tour ahead in July 2011 that will be the first step for the team to polish their abilities before the 2011 Pan American Games that are to be held from October 14-30, in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Fernando Zylberberg, a player from the Ducilo club team, commented, "Right now the players are coming from Europe. All come with his style, his way of training and physically tired to finish their league. What good is that we are all together again and we
have to begin with, sadly, from zero at the tactical level in the face of Pan."
According to him, the team chosen for the Pan American Games has always contained a blend of veteran players, who have the aquired expertise and the fresh blood that will play their debut at the international competition. Due to this mix, few players will
take revenge of their last encounters, while the new ones played will perform under pressure.
The team, which is to play in the European Tour, was selected under Pablo Lombi, the team’s coach, who is currently preparing the team for their upcoming encounters.
There will be double-shift trainings conducted by the coach in July, on four-day of the week namely Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, whereas the development squad will be trained in the same month, every week, on Wednesdays and Fridays, under Jorge
Lombi.
The first encounter for the Argentina senior men’s side is the five-nation tournament that will be hosted in Paris, France. In this event, the team will confront South Africa, South Korea, Australia and the hosts, France. Pablo will leave with his team for
Paris on July 22, from Ezeiza.
The matches will be played from July 25-31 and the schedule is:
July 27: South Africa vs Argentina
July 28: France vs Argentina
July 30: Argentina vs Australia
July 31: Argentina vs South Korea
Their next stop will be Netherlands, where they will play two Tests against the host team on August 2 and 4, 2011.
