Argentine Juan Chela slays Christian Lindell; leads tie against Sweden at Power Horse World Team Cup
Argentina continued to force her way through the Power Horse World Team Cup, as Juan Ignacio Chela blew away his Swede opponent Christian Lindell in the singles rubber on Tuesday.
In the second tie of the round robin stage, Chela absolutely devastated Lindell in straight sets 6-1, 6-1, to get Team Argentina one.
A magnificent display of sheer dominance was seen from the Argentine who outclassed the Swede in every segment of the game. In the contest being played at the Rochusclub in Dusseldorf, Germany, Chela faced no challenge from his opponent en route to victory. Lindell proved to be a total mismatch for the Argentine competitor and failed to have his impact on the game. He won just two out of 14 total games played in the matchup and never broke Chela in the entire contest.
The aggressive argentine was outstanding with his serve throughout the game. His first serve precision reached 81 per cent and he amazingly secured 28 out of 31 total serve points in the contest. In contrast to the Argentine, Lindell’s bleak serve provided 10 break opportunities to Chela, who converted five of them to root him out of the game.
Lindell appeared in all sorts of confusion right from the beginning, as he has to suffer a serve break in the very first game of the opener. Chela launched a series of attacks to pressurise his opponent early in the game and was successful in doing so. He won all of his first serve points in the opener and was equally good at his return game as well.
The Swede suffered a second consecutive break to trail 0-4, before he finally held serve in the fifth game to disturb the winning momentum of Chela. The Argentine stung his third break point of the game to seal the opening set at 6-1 and get the upper hand in the contest.
Chela continued his demolition job in the following set as well, again breaking Lindell in his first serve game to lead 3-0. His powerful serve was too good for the Swede to handle, as he was clearly found struggling to anticipate the 83 per cent precise serve. Chela delivered the final death blow in the sixth game, breaking his opponent’s serve and then served out of the contest at 6-1 to give Argentina the start she desired.
The next singles rubber will be played between world number five, Robin Soderling of Sweden and Maximo Gonzalez of Argentina on Wednesday. It is anticipated that Soderling will continue his sublime form to eliminate the deficit his side is currently suffering.
