With Olympique de Marseille keen on offloading a few players in the upcoming winter transfer window, reports suggest that the likes of Lucho Gonzalez and Andre-Pierre Gignac could be the first ones to say Au Revoir to the Stade Velodrome in January
2012.
Forced to sell before recruiting new players in the upcoming winter transfer window, Ligue 1 giants http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 are desperate to balance their books and reduce the wage-bill at the club. Andre-Pierre Gignac has already been touted with a move
away from Stade Velodrome this winter with rumours suggesting that the former Toulouse man could join English Premier League side Fulham FC on loan for the remainder of the season with an option to buy.
Lucho Gonzalez could also be offloaded in the winter transfer window as Didier Deschamps no longer sees the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 man as a part of his plans at the Rhone club. Only problem for Les Phoceens is that there are till now, no courtiers lining up for
the Argentine midfielder’s signature.
While talking to L’Equipe a few days ago, Olympique de Marseille sporting director, Jose Anigo said, “The departure of Lucho is not intended and all will be decided in January.”
Reports now claim that the midfielder has already expressed his desire to stay at the club till the remainder of the campaign. La Provence claims that the midfielder wants to finish the current campaign with OM before looking for a new club. Though the decision
is a respectable one, OM might still consider selling the player.
In the small world of football, nothing is for certain especially when the transfer window opens. Greek giants Olympiakos were keen on signing the midfielder but the Greeks chose to walk away from the negotiations after it was revealed that Marseille did
not want to go down below their valuation of the player.
However, it has now been reported that Marseille have already started negotiations with a foreign club whose identity and origin has not been disclosed.
Listening to all offers, OM are hopeful of finding a team for Lucho Gonzalez that can take the player’s hefty wage off their shoulders.
