Argentinean Men’s National Team ready to rumble at international events – Volleyball news
The regular volleyball club season of Argentina recently completed its length and now the athletes are getting ready to showcase their skills in the upcoming international events.
The Argentine Volleyball Federation is all focused to assemble the men’s national team with best players of the national league. The National League (ACLAV) uncovered many talented and outstanding players during the regular season.
The head coach of Argentinean Men’s National Volleyball Team, Javier Weber has initially finalised the roster of 25 fine players, which will further be short-listed to 12-man squad.
The Argentinean team has three big challenges to face. In the first place, they are set to take part in the 2011 FIVB Youth League, which is fast approaching. The 2011 FIVB World League is scheduled to run from May 27 to July 10.
A total of 16 teams from across the globe will be on board to exhibit their tricks and techniques on the centre court. Argentina is also one of the contenders that have big plans to do well in the competition.
Argentina actively participated in the last edition of the FIVB World League and finished in the fifth slot. This time around, they have bigger concerns to climb up the higher ranking. Besides the FIVB World League, other events such as FIVB Men’s World
Cup, the South American and Pan-American Championships will also create opportunities for Argentinean team to catch the limelight.
Moreover, the qualification for the 2012 London Olympic Games would be the prime objective Argentinean squad.
Hence, this is the time that they are required to build a strong team-line, in order to survive in the tough competitions. The current 25-man national squad includes 14 players, who were part of the Argentinean National Team at the 2010 FIVB Men’s World
Championship.
Argentina settled for ninth spot in the 2010 World Championship. The rest of the team is composed of mix bag of players. The coach Weber has also selected some of the youth players.
The team is currently training in Buenos Aires and Weber is putting a lot of effort to dig out the best team. Talking of the further plans, he commented, “April 26 is when we will start preparing for the London 2012 Olympic Games qualification time for the
Argentine men’s team. Those playing in the semi-finals will start on the 26 and those playing the Final Series will have one week holiday and will be joining training with those that are playing outside the country.”
