Argentinean Polo Pro, Eduardo Novillo Astrada optimistic for Argentina Open Polo Championship
Argentinean polo pro and star of La Aguada (Club), Eduardo Novillo Astrada, is quite confident about displaying an impressive show in the upcoming Argentine Open Polo Championship (Campeonato Argentino Abierto de Polo), set to commence on November 19, at
the Campo Argentino de Polo, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Eduardo Novillo Astrada spoke with the media ahead of the world’s largest club tournament, expressing his views and plans.
In his view, La Aguada will have to exhibit many things that it did not in the Tortugas and Hurlingham Open Championships. He stated, “We have to continue playing the good chukkers as we have been playing them so far, and we must not lose concentration:
we have to play less chukkers badly".
It is worth mentioning here that La Aguada clinched the last title of the Argentina Open Polo Championship, back in 2003.
Commenting on the first game of the tournament, Eduardo Novillo Astrada, expressed hopes to play a reasonable game. Surely, their side will acquire productive results when it plays a good game, he added.
He believed that they earned victories when they played good polo in the previous tournaments, and they faced defeats whey the failed to do so. However, he is optimistic to uphold a high level of game in the future assignments.
Replying to a query regarding controversial decisions of the referees, he explained that the umpires should be unbiased at all times. The referees’ decisions and calls should be on the same grounds for every team, he continued.
Eduardo asserted, “A good Abierto Argentino means claiming the title. I consider that from the moment you enter the field the aim is to win, and to also have some fun. To have a good time and play well would be ideal, that’s what we're aiming at".
In the concluding remarks, Eduardo Astrada anticipated that La Dolfina, La Aguada and Ellerstina are ideals to lift the title. In his view, it will be a surprise if any team other than these three emerges victorious in the championship.
In the first-day games, La Dolfina will face Chapa Uno while La Aguada will take on Pilara to show their worth in the arena.
Regardless of who wins the title, the tournament will provide plenty of entertainment for sports lovers across the world.
