Arghhhhh where to sit?

I'm having a house warming this weekend and I don't have enough chairs to accommodate everyone. What's the next best alternative?

I'll need at least another 15-20 and I don't really want to buy them.

If I rent them, I'm afraid they'll scratch up the wood flooring.

Rent them. tell them you need the chairs with the scratch guards on the bottom of the legs  if it is a good rental place they will have them.

The party rental place by my house has about 10 different chairs they rent.  There are a few that I would worry about scratching the flooring, but they have some that wouldn't.  Check with your local rental place for the proper chair legs.

Could you move it outdoors?  Rent the chairs for the outside area.  If you have the yard for it.

For a housewarming party does everyone really need to sit? Are you having dinner? Giving a speech? I don't think you need a 1:1 ratio for chairs unless you are planning to have an event in which everyone needs to sit. I've been to plenty of events that only have seating for about 1/3 of the people there and no one really had any problems... I think if you had a 1:1 ratio, many would go  unused.
