Arian Faster, sorry Foster, runs havoc in opposition defences – NFL Feature
In 2011, star of Houston Texans’ show was rookie quarterback T.J. Yates – the first-time makeshift offence leader led the side to playoffs after win of the American Football Conference (AFC) South, both for the first time in their history. Since then it
has been a completely different performance story for many Texans, and almost at all positions.
Take running back Arian Foster, for example. The player is unstoppable this season. He has been leading all other players in the team’s wins from the front.
Although quarterback Matt Schaub, who had returned from a foot surgery to hit the field for the first time after missing the entire past half of the season and wide receiver Andre Johnson who too missed as many as nine games in the 2011 season, are as good
as Arian or any other player, Foster’s run has been unique in all aspects. He has become an inspirational force in the team, and appears to be running all the time, whenever on the field.
The Houston Texans are coming on the field as Super Bowl contenders and no one has taken it as challenging as Foster. Until fifth game of the season he had rushed for 532 yards, which made him stand second in the league.
Also, he achieved 5,000 scrimmage yards measure in his 40th game in the National Football League (NFL), which held him the third fastest player to do that in the league history. So his rush on the field can be determined from his performance numbers,
although he has got more aspects to his impressive performance than just numbers.
One important perspective is that once he gets going he takes along the entire team, instilling a sense of teamwork in the players, which has been a unique point of the Texans’ this year’s show.
It is probably strategy of coach Gary Kubiak who wants the players to keep possession of the ball as much as they can as the best possible defensive strategy that has fit the pace and force of Foster very well.
So overall the coach’s scheme has united the entire team and given a sense of direction to the players. At the end, he helped boost individual performances as of the running backs.
The coach strongly advocates Foster’s performance, although he had not been pleased with him during initial couple of games. Since then the player has responded well during each game, seeking ways to give even better than his last appearance.
Gary is happy that Foster is among the best rushers out of the 32 franchises in the league and if continues at the same pace and force, he should be able to finish the season on top.
