Arielle Allen added to recruiting class at West Virginia University
The prolific middle-blocker Arielle Allen, who spent last two seasons at Western Wyoming Community College, has now joined the women’s volleyball program at West Virginia University (WVU).
The information was revealed by school’s volleyball coach Jill Kramer on Tuesday, January 3, 2012. The Lewistown, Montana native, Allen has been added to the 2012 recruiting class after she signed a Grant-in-Aid to attend the WVU.
Therefore, the 2012 incoming class of volleyball players will feature following athletes including Allen:
Nikki Attea - East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville North Monique Kemp - Pembroke Pines, Florida/Dade Christian Kendall LaVine - Boulder, Colorado/Fairview Anna Panagiotakopoulos - Phoenix, Arizona/Xavier College Preparatory Brittany Sample - Lewisville, Texas/Hebron
Allen will join the WVU side after grabbing great success at the WWCC in the previous two seasons. In her first year at WWCC, she collected 230 kills and helped her team with 127 blocks. She made great strides and contributed to the overall success of the
team in 2010 season. The next season brought more luck for Allen as she took the number of her overall kills in two seasons to 537. She also added 99 blocks in the 2011 season.
The WWCC finished third at the 2010 National Junior College Athletic Association National Championship (NJCAA), while Allen played a vital role in leading WWCC to the final round. In 2011, WWCC improved to second position at the NJCAA National Championship.
Allen was named first team all-conference, AVCA second team all-America, and NJCAA second team all-America, in 2011. Moreover, she was also named in the Region IX all-region team. Overall, it was a fabulous year for Allen and she truly shined out with outstanding
results.
In the next run, the Mountaineers will take advantage of Allen’s skill-set and experience. They closed the 2011 season with an overall record of 7-19. It was not a satisfactory finish as WVU received more losses than victories. They certainly need to plan
the 2012 season in a better way and do well. The coach Jill Kramer expressed hope that the new crop of players will help WVU to improve the win/loss record.
