Top contributor indeed? Aristotle wasn't even born in 404 BC. Wake up man! He was born in 384 BCE and died in 322.

Now to answer the question:

Nobody knows for sure when this was written, for it isn't included in one of his major works - as far as I'm aware. So let me also have a guess. I think it was written late in Aristotle's life - during his years in Athens when he wrote the Nicomachean Ethics - perhaps at around 330 BCE?

I believe he said it when he was attending "Plato's Academy" in Athens around 404 BC.
