Ariya Jutanugarn advances to quarterfinals in the US Women's Amateur
Ariya Jutanugarn has been winning steadily and is in the quarterfinals of the US Women's Amateur. She will face Erynne Lee of the Silverdale, Washington.
Ariya Jutanugarn started the event on a great note and qualified for the event with ease. The first test of her golf skills was in the round of 64, where she played against Jennifer Yang. The match proved to be one sided with Ariya Jutanugarn winning by
a score of 3 and 1.
The next match was in the round of 32 and proved to be interesting. Jutanugarn faced Bethany Wu and both the players proved to evenly matched. However, at the end of eth match, Jutanugarn won by a huge margin of 6 and 4.
It was in the round of 16, where Jutanugarn faced a real challenge. She was up against the Australian player Ashlee Dewhurs, who gave the Philippines player a tough time on every hole.
Ariya Jutanugarn did manage to win in the end but the score of 3 and 2 showed that the competition was very close.
Ariya Jutanugarn will play against Erynne Lee in the quarter final. Lee is another talented player who has risen up the ranks and played great golf in all her matches.
Lee faced Minjee Lee, the well known Australian amateur. Erynne beat her with an easy score of 5 and 4.
In the round of 32, Lee defeated Elisabeth Bernabe with a score of 3 and 2. This was a great match, which really tested Lee’s golf abilities to the limit. In the next round, the round of 16, Lee played against Austin Ernst.
Ernst, who comes from South Carolina, is a very good golfer herself and the competition between the two players was fierce. However, Lee managed to win by a small margin of 2 and 1.
Given these facts, Ariya Jutanugarn will have an interesting match against Erynne Lee. The quarterfinal is the final checkpoint where players of lesser skills are removed from the competitions.
This will make the match between these two players more interesting. The winner of the quarterfinal will advance to the semi-finals.
