Arizona Cardinals’ Ryan Williams: I feel like the most anticipated player of the year – NFL News
Arizona Cardinals’ running back, Ryan Williams, who was selected by the team in the 2011 National Football League (NFL) draft, but was unfortunate not to make his debut last year, has said that he considers himself as the most anticipated player of the year.
Williams, who played college football at Virginia Tech, was selected by the Cards in the second round as 38th overall pick.
During a preseason game against Green Bay Packers, Williams injured his knee as a result of which he was not only forced out of the game, but from the entire season.
Williams underwent a surgery to treat his knee and he is now confident of making his NFL debut in the upcoming season.
According to the details present on the team’s website, he said:
“I kind of feel like the most anticipated player of the year, and (fans) haven’t even seen anything but a couple weeks of training camp.”
Interestingly, the Cards did not select any running back in the 2012 NFL draft. They even did not select any receiver who could have joined the squad after the draft as an undrafted free agent.
Also, Beanie Wells, who was the team’s starting running back last season, is recovering from knee surgery and might take some time before getting completely fit.
This leaves field open for Williams to impress the coaches and earn playing time next season, but to do that he will have to be hundred percent fit and healthy besides performing up to his best potential.
Apparently, Williams is confident and motivated about performing well next season. He has asserted that he is not worried about anything at all.
While referring to his participation in the organised team activities (OTAs) and preseason games, Williams said:
“I still have time. I am running and cutting and doing things I didn’t think I’d be doing this early. I’m not worried about it.”
He added:
“I believe in myself and I believe I will be back. I asked (head athletic trainer) Tom (Reed), and I trust Tom and I feel he will be honest with me, and I asked, ‘Do you think I will be 100 percent?’ He said ‘I feel you will be better than you were before.’
