Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt apologises for 0-58 loss against Seattle Seahawks – NFL News
Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt has apologised for his team’s their worst loss of the season
In his postgame press conference on Sunday, Whisenhunt felt embarrassed after Week 14 loss against Seattle Seahawks by 0-58.
He said:
“Let me start by saying I apologize to our fans and everybody associated with our organization. That was embarrassing today. We owe it to our fans, our supporters, to give them a better product.”
Cardinals have won four and lost nine games this season. Talking about the rumours surrounding his job security, Whisenhunt said:
“We all know this business. I’ve been in it a long time as a player and a coach. I’m not worried about that.”
He seemed not much concerned about his job security. He started his career as a head coach in 2007 with Cardinals. His position is dooming in this season.
Talking about Cardinals quarterback John Skelton, who was intercepted four times, Whisenhunt said:
“Let’s face it, in this league, part of our struggles have been tied to that position. You have to have someone there that can cover up other areas.”
Skelton completed 11 of 22 passes for 74 yards and could not score any touchdown. His performance throughout the season has not been impressive.
He has started five games after Kevin Kolb injured his ribs during Week 6 game against Buffalo Bills.
Skelton has completed 109 of 201 passes for 1,132 yards and two touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Whisenhunt now seriously needs a replacement for him, this kind of performance is not supportive for Cardinals’ better future.
Meanwhile, Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson has also accepted that they did not play well and said:
“We didn’t fit the gaps well, there were blown a couple assignments on the long passes (defensively). We have to find a way to get out of it.”
Quarterback Ryan Lindley is expected to start next game against Detroit Lions in Week 15. Lindley has not even performed much in this season; he has played four games and completed 58 of 120 passes for 507 yards with five interceptions.
