Arizona Cardinals’ quarterback Kevin Kolb doubtful against San Francisco 49ers – NFL News
As his injury persists, Arizona Cardinals’ quarterback Kevin Kolb’s participation is doubtful against San Francisco 49ers as the teams meet in the week 11 encounter of the National Football League current season.
Kolb was traded to Cardinals in July 2011 and is playing as a regular starter for the franchise. During the week eight game against Baltimore Ravens, he received a turf toe injury in his right foot that forced him out not only
of the rest of the game, but also prevented him from playing the next two games against St. Louis Rams and Philadelphia Eagles in the week nine and 10 respectively.
During Kolb’s absence, backup quarterback John Skelton filled in for him. Skelton has stats of 537 yards and four touchdowns after two matches. He is expected to start against 49ers and will continue to do the same as long as Kolb
is unfit.
Skelton is a fifth round pick of the 2010 NFL Draft by Cardinals. He’s been playing as a backup quarterback since he has joined the franchise and never been able to become a regular starter. Recently, he admitted that the regular
starter Kolb is much better player than him.
A day before this development, Cardinals’ coach Ken Whisenhunt was asked whether Skelton could replace Kolb as a regular starter. However, he did not give any satisfactory answer and said that nothing could be decided as long as
Kolb is injured.
"I know that you're going to try to ask this question a bunch of times," said the coach. "I understand that. I understand the point of discussion. Where we are right now, it doesn't matter. Until we get Kevin back out there and
practicing and we can assess where he is after having missed a couple of weeks, you can't even talk about that, to be honest with you."
Cardinals have been defeated in six games out of nine this season and hold third spot in the National Football Conference West Division, which is not a very encouraging sign.
In the seven games Kolb played this season, he managed eight touchdowns, eight interceptions and 1,706 yards. He’s desperate to get back and improve his record further.
"I am just anxious to get back on the field and prove what I can do," Kolb said Tuesday.
