Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb enjoying the moment – NFL News
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb, who rescued the team in the 2012 season opener against Seattle Seahawks last Sunday after replacing injured quarterback John Skelton in the final quarter, is not rushing into anything and wants to live in the moment.
Kolb started for the Cards last year and was ousted due to an injury, giving Skelton an opportunity to become the starter. Both quarterbacks competed for the starting role this offseason and Skelton was finally named as the starter for the 2012 season.
Kolb was certainly disappointed, but he tried to give his best shot as a backup and ensured to avail any opportunity he got.
It did not take long for Kolb to get the opportunity as Skelton got injured in the first game of the season. When Kolb took the charge, the Cardinals were trailing by three points. The quarterback provided the game-winning touchdown to lead the Cardinals
to the victory.
As per the recent reports, Skelton might take a few weeks to recover completely and it is expected that Kolb would continue to play as starter as long as Skelton is not available.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Kolb said of getting the opportunity:
“You realise it’s never as bad or never as far away as you think. This league has taught me that in the past.”
The quarterback further said:
“Really, the way my career has gone, the way last year went, the way it happened already this year, I’m not worried about that. I want to play and let things go the way they are supposed to end up.”
Although Kolb is going to start in absence of Skelton, it is still not known who will start when Skelton returns to complete fitness.
It is still too early to speculate the possible starter on Skelton’s return, but it looks like the Cardinals are not thinking about it. When asked to comment on the matter, Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt said:
“I can’t look into the future and say what’s going to happen six weeks from now. I can only tell you we’ll see what happens with John and how quickly gets back.”
