Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb ready for next challenge – NFL News
Quarterback Kevin Kolb has led the Arizona Cardinals to one of the best starts of a season this year, but the last two games have been pretty tough for him.
After replacing starting quarterback John Skelton in the season opener, Kolb not only led the team to victory in that game, but also managed to win the next three games, taking the Cards to a 4-0 start to the season.
Cardinals got their first defeat of the season in Week 5 game against St. Louis Rams, who were very aggressive on defence and attacked Kolb a number of times.
In that game, Kolb was sacked nine times, while the offence was able to only score a field goal in the entire game. A game earlier, in victory over Miami Dolphins, Kolb was sacked eight times.
Although the offensive line is supposed to provide protection to any quarterback, Kolb is of the view that it was also somewhat his fault that led to those hits on him.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Kolb said:
“It’s always a combination. Obviously, the line, they get blamed for it. It’s on me. It’s on communication from the very beginning. That’s been pretty good most of the time.”
Cardinals played their Week 5 game on Thursday night and have got enough time to relax as they prepare for Week 6 game against Buffalo Bills.
The quarterback is of the view that the long gap has helped the players to relax a bit and they are now ready to face the next challenge. He said:
“We’ve got a lot of dings, as does every team in the NFL, but as hard as it was to play in that turnaround Thursday night, it is nice to have a few days off to relax and get your body back right.”
Meanwhile, Kolb has agreed with his head coach Ken Whisenhunt that the Cards could have won Week 5 game as well to go 5-0, had they covered some minor mistakes. He said:
“The plays are there.”
The quarterback added:
“If we just hit on half of them, which we’ve been doing, the game’s a totally different ball game.”
