Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb should be able to play in preseason game – NFL News
Arizona Cardinal Head Coach Ken Whisenhunt gave some good news regarding the injury of their quarterback Kevin Kolb on Tuesday, August 08, 2012.
Whisenhunt said that Kolb had a minor injury and was expected to make a comeback in the preseason game against Kansas City Chiefs.
While playing in the Hall of Fame game against New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Kolb bruised his Ribs. According the to Associated Press, Whisenhunt said:
"He's still a little sore, but I don't anticipate there being any problems as we progress through the week. He may be limited this afternoon, but I certainly think as the week progresses he'll be fine and he'll play."
Cardinals lost that game 17-10. The injury to Kolb could not come at a worse time when he is facing a tough competition from John Skelton for the starting quarterback spot. Skelton reportedly had an upper hand in the competition.
After Sunday’s game, Kolb talked with NFL.com and was asked about the perception that he was not strong enough to go through a complete season. Kolb gave an interesting reply. He said:
"I'm not worried about it at all. Could I see how others think that? Yeah, I mean lately I've been a little bit unlucky, but I feel like I worked just as hard physically as I ever have and just had a few bad breaks. This is very minor,
and I'll be back at it here shortly."
Kolb did miss a good part of the last two seasons because of injuries. It was decided even before Kolb’s injury that Skelton would start against Chiefs in the preseason game.
Kolb did return to have a light practice alongside his teammate, running back Beanie Wells.
Kolb started his career with the Philadelphia Eagles who drafted him in the second round (36th overall pick) of the 2007 draft. Last season, he played nine games and scored nine touchdowns and eight interceptions
while covering 1,955 yards.
