Arizona Cardinals set eyes on Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick – NFL News
Although Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has not been able to find his proper rhythm during the first two games of the season, Arizona Cardinals consider him the main threat as both sides face each other in Week 3 game on Sunday.
Cardinals have won their first two games of the season, defeating Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots, and if they want to go 3-0, Vick, according to them, should be controlled.
The Cards did well in the first two games to put pressure on their oppositions’ offence. They are hoping to repeat the same performance and give tough time to Vick, who provided game-winning touchdowns in the Eagles’ Week 1 and Week 2 game respectively.
Cardinals have relied on the defence more than offence during the first two weeks and if they continue to do so they can set an impressive 3-0 feat at the start of the season.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Cardinals are hoping to track Vick just as they tracked Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, who only registered 153 yards during the game apart from throwing an interception.
According to Cardinals linebacker O’Brien Schofield:
“Our biggest thing this week is treating him how we played Russell Wilson. Try to contain him and bring the pressure, get his mind off his reads and really have him focus on the pass rush and trying to escape.”
He added:
“It’s hard to tackle a smaller quarterback. They can duck you. Sometimes you can lose vision when they get behind lineman. Our biggest thing is to make him one-dimensional. Force him to beat us with his arm.”
Cardinals’ defence has a strong chance of controlling Vick because the quarterback is struggling with his accuracy. Despite playing crucial roles in both victories, Vick has not been able to control his passes and this gives Cardinals an opportunity to dominate
him.
The good thing for Eagles is that the quarterback is well aware of where he needs to improve and he has repeatedly said that he is trying hard to overcome his mistakes.
If Vick is able to control his passes and penetrate Cardinals’ defence, he can surely have a strong chance of leading the Eagles to their third straight victory.
