Arizona Cardinals’ strong safety Adrian Wilson thankful after making to the Pro Bowl – NFL News

Arizona Cardinals’ strong safety, Adrian Wilson, has thanked his fans, teammates and the team’s coaching staff after his selection in the National Football Conference (NFC) squad on Tuesday for the 2012 Pro Bowl, which will be played on January 29 at Aloha
Stadium, Hawaii
Wilson is not the only one from the team to get this honour. His two other teammates, cornerback and punt returner, Patrick Peterson, and wide receiver, Larry Fitzgerald, were also selected for the squad.
Wilson has been playing with the Cardinals since 2001 when he started his professional career. This is his fifth selection in the Pro Bowl squad. This time it is much more special, because he had to battle hard to regain his form.
The safety also had this honour last year when he recorded 88 tackles in 16 games. This season was more difficult for him as he had to deal with an injury, besides striving for consistency. He has recorded 62 tackles this season.
He said:
“I want to thank my teammates and the coaching staff and the whole organization for sticking with me and being patient with me. This is much more about them than me. Obviously I struggled early on, but things like that happen. It was an up-and-down year
and it started off bad … the cards were stacked against us, so to speak.”
Meanwhile, Cardinals’ coach, Ken Whisenhunt, has also appreciated Wilson and said that the player had worked hard to maintain consistency.
The coach said:
“I remember talking about whether he’d have a chance to play, and you have to tip your cap to Adrian. It goes to show you the tremendous respect other players and teams have for Adrian.”
On the other hand, the coach has also admired the eight-year-veteran, Larry Fitzgerald, who has made it to the Pro Bowl roster sixth time.
Fitzgerald has 71 receptions for 1,262 yards with eight touchdowns to his credit this season. He averages 17.8 yards per receive.
Furthermore, the selection of Peterson has also been appreciated by the Cardinals.
Although the Cardinals had a poor run throughout the season, the selection of three players in the prestigious squad is certainly going to cheer them up.
The Cardinals have won seven games this season and lost eight. They are ranked third in the NFC West division with an average of 19.3 points per game. They are going to face Seattle Seahawks in the last game of the regular season on Sunday.
