Arizona Cardinals to announce starting quarterback soon – NFL News
The Arizona Cardinals have spent the entire offseason evaluating their quarterbacks to determine the starter for the regular season and even though they have only one preseason game left now they have not yet decided the starter.
However, things are going to sort out pretty soon as Cardinals’ head coach Ken Whisenhunt has said that he is going to announce the starter. He has been asked the same question a number of times and he always had no answer to it. But he will have the answer
pretty soon.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Whisenhunt said during a news conference on Friday, August 24, 2012:
“We’ll think about it over the weekend. I’m sure I’ll get asked that question again and the next time I think I’ll have a little bit more information.”
The coach has to select between Kevin Kolb and John Skelton. He had planned to observe the performance of both quarterbacks during the preseason games, but both of them have not yet been able to accelerate so far.
The Cards have played preseason games against Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders and Tennessee Titans and they have only one preseason game left. They will take on Denver Broncos next Thursday and it is still not known who will start that game. By the looks
of the things, the one who starts the game against Broncos will also start for the Cards in the regular season.
Whisenhunt said that he had not decided who will start against Broncos and informed that he would make his decision after monitoring both players during practice sessions before the game. He said:
“Since we’re not game planning we still have an opportunity to do some competitive practices with our defence where you get a chance to assess their play. A lot of it is how they respond to their corrections this game and their games the week before. There
are a lot of things that go into it.”
Cardinals have lost two of their three preseason games and the offensive line seems to have been struggling so far. If it remains the case in the regular season as well then the Cards might not be able to display any heroics this year.
