Arizona Cardinals uncertain about Kevin Kolb’s return – NFL News
Arizona Cardinals have refrained from speculating return timeline of quarterback Kevin Kolb, who was sidelined during Week 6 loss against Buffalo Bills after receiving an injury.
After receiving the injury, the quarterback was taken off the field and could not return again. He was replaced by John Skelton, who is going to be their starter now.
According to the details present on the team’s website, the Cards have confirmed that Kolb will remain out for unspecified period. They have not yet given any more details around the player’s return.
The team did acknowledge that the quarterback had damaged his cartilage in ribs, while he had also sprained his SC joint.
When asked about return prospects of Kolb, Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt said:
“I’m not trying to dodge the question. A lot of it is going to depend on how he feels and I can’t tell you how that’s going to be. He wants to get better. He wants to get back to playing.”
In Kolb’s absence, Skelton is going to be Cardinals’ starter against Minnesota Vikings in Week 7 game. Even if Kolb gets fit, the team is not going to consider him for Week 7. Whisenhunt said earlier:
“It’s very early for us to even talk about that right now until we get all the information back. It’s not going to change how we plan for this week.”
This season, Kolb has played six games while starting five. In total, he has completed 109 passes of 183 attempts for 1,169 yards, while scoring eight touchdowns and throwing three interceptions.
Kolb was initially supposed to be backup quarterback behind Skelton, but the latter got injured during the season opener and made his comeback last week.
It is not known who will be the starter when Kolb gets fit, because he played well in absence of Skelton.
Even when Skelton was out, Whisenhunt did not confirm who would be the starter when the quarterback returned to full fitness. Judging by the approach the Cardinals head coach had adopted earlier, it can be established that he would not say anything about
the starting quarterback once both players are available at the same time.
