Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald does not want to quit – NFL News
Even though the Arizona Cardinals have performed rather sluggishly this season, wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald still has not given up.
In a recent radio interview, Fitzgerald insisted that Cardinals will play and practice for the next games, despite their poor record in the season.
Cardinals have won four and lost nine games. Their last game against Seattle Seahawks was the worst in the franchise’s history. Seahawks outclassed them by 58-0. It was an embarrassing defeat for Cardinals.
At the beginning of the season nobody would have thought that Cardinals would have worst season, because they were the only one to have won first four games.
According to Fitzgerald, they are professionals and they will never quit.
He said:
“We're going to continue to prepare every week like we would if we had won nine games in a row. That's not going to change. We're not going to quit."
Due to poor performances of quarterbacks and wrong decisions of head coach Ken Whisenhunt, Fitzgerald will not be able to continue his successive record for registering more than 1,000 yards in a season.
He has 57 receptions for 652 yards and scored four touchdowns this season. Being an experienced player, he did not blame anyone in the team for this unfortunate season.
He said:
"I enjoy playing for the Arizona Cardinals and I want to continue to play here and try to win."
He started his NFL career with Cardinals as the third overall pick in the 2004 NFL draft. The Cards extended his contract to eight years in 2011.
According to Cardinals president Michael Bidwill, he will decide about Whisenhunt’s job after the season. He was disappointed with the recent defeat and called it unacceptable.
He said:
"I think not making a rush decision is the right way to go."
Cardinals are standing at fourth position in National Football Conference (NFC) West. They are going to play their next game against Detroit Lions on Sunday, December 16.
