Arizona Diamondbacks’ GM Kirk Gibson shows support for Justin Upton – MLB News
The Arizona Diamondbacks’ management is currently looking for a potential trade of their right fielder Justin Upton but still they have not heard a decent offer from any Major League franchise.
His trade talks came at the end of first half of the season while now mid season break is also coming to end but still his trade is lingering with no potential response from any major franchise.
Upton has been playing in the Diamondbacks’ roster since 2007, but in all those years, his performance has been remained on top and never forced or provoked the Diamondbacks’ to trade.
However, this season has proved little difficult for Upton. He has not been playing his natural game and finished with hitting .270 at the end of first half of the season as his trade talks further heated.
On the other hand, with all those trade possibilities, the team manager Kirk Gibson is still resisting the idea of trading Upton instead he is supporting him and trying his best to report that the player still possesses energy to play for Arizona.
Gibson commented on the different trade aspects regarding Upton and said, "I think the best thing for Justin is to play, maybe things have been more magnified because we had the break and there are a lot of rumors out there. It's just part of the game. He
understands that. These things have been going on for years and years."
He added, "I would never comment until somebody puts their name on it, I mean, these things are almost amusing.”
Meanwhile, many experts believe that the Arizona Diamondbacks who are at the moment sitting quite comfortable at the third position in the National League West with 42-44 win-loss and .488 winning percentage, will be depending highly on their senior players
and at the moment any trade involving an experienced player could damage their post season qualification chances.
It will be interesting to see what the Diamondbacks decide about Upton, as he is a tremendous player who has served Arizona well over the years. The team will be looking to make some possible changes as the second half of the regular season kicks off.
