Arizona Diamondbacks beat Atlanta Braves 3-2 – MLB Recap
The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Atlanta Braves 3-2 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Thursday, June 28 at Turner Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Though the Diamondbacks had already lost the series, but this victory will give them some confidence to play well against the much tougher rivals Milwaukee Brewers in the coming days.
After two consecutive defeats from the Braves, the Diamondbacks came out on Atlanta’s home field with confidence and started a spirited run early in the game which eventually proved fruitful as they won in style.
Diamondbacks’ entire roster played well and never gave any chance to the Braves to take control of the game. Though the Braves went early into lead, but Arizona bounced back with enormous energy and eventually proved no match for their opposing franchise.
Starter Trevor Bauer played wonderfully for the Diamondbacks and received only two runs on five hits. He received two earned runs and struck-out three batters while his ERA remained consistent at 4.50.
"I had my good stuff for the first two innings, I was locating the ball well, and my breaking ball had a good bite to it, but when the third inning came along, my control went everywhere. It was like a tale of two pitchers. I felt it my second outing in Reno (May 23) and haven't felt it since, and hopefully I'll be ready to go again in five days." said Trevor Bauer.
On the other hand, Atlanta’s starter Jair Jurrjens despite showing his natural and well balanced game could have won the game for his team. He finished with six hits, two runs and two earned runs while his ERA climbed to 6.07.
Later in the game, Jurrjens’ pitching was also appreciated by Atlanta manager Fredi Gonzalez. He not only commented on his starter’s pitching but he also stated in the media about the different aspects of his team’s defeat. He said, "I was impressed with their pitching overall, Their starting pitching and also their bullpen. I think that's one of the best staffs we've seen one through 12."
Yet, the Braves’ management is hopeful for their next series against the Washington Nationals and the Diamondbacks at the same time, will be facing Milwaukee Brewers.
