Arizona Diamondbacks beaten by Cincinnati Reds 2-3 – MLB Recap
The Arizona Diamondbacks lost to the Cincinnati Reds 2-3 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, August 27 at Chase Field in Phoenix.
Diamondbacks’ played exceptionally well and earned a great victory against the Reds. They played as one unit and rattled their opponents in style.
Reds’ pitchers showed their valour and proved too good for the Diamondbacks.
Though the game was a close encounter but still it was Reds’ pitchers who proved to be the difference.
Starter Branson Arroyo pitched six innings and allowed two runs. He remained calm on the mound and received five hits on his 3.84 ERA.
He struck-out three while he received only one homer during his spell.
"Things are kind of working out a little bit, I'm feeling good, but I've been feeling good all year. Sometimes you have to get things going and they've been going to last six weeks," Arroyo said on his performance.
Arroyo added, "There was a kind of a weird vibe all day, It was a little humid and I just felt like I was gassed. It was a good time to turn it over. With the bullpen we have it's nice to know you can go out and maybe give up a little sooner than you would otherwise and still win."
Along with pitchers, the Reds' hitters also did well with the bat. They all played intelligently and hammered heavy hits on the Diamondbacks’ pitchers.
Shortstop Wilson Valdez scored one run and smashed one hit on his five at-bats while his slugging percentage also remained consistent at .224.
Third baseman Scott Rolen also played well as he scored one run and smashed one hit on his consistent .415 slugging percentage.
On the other hand, the Diamondbacks did not play well and lost in the end. Diamondbacks’ pitchers and hitters did not show their natural game and could not save the match-up.
Tyler Skaggs disappointed his team with his poor 5.2 innings in which he allowed three runs and five hits on his 2.92 ERA.
