Arizona Diamondbacks crush Colorado Rockies 10-0 – MLB Recap
The Arizona Diamondbacks crushed the Colorado Rockies 10-0 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, June 5 at Chase Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Ian Kennedy kept his cool for first six innings and remained scoreless. He received five hits and struck-out 12 Rockies’ batters and maintained 3.93 ERA giving his team a tremendous win.
"It's a secret. It was just a minor mechanical thing. Sometimes when I'm out there, I can feel myself get under pitches and it just tells myself that little key." Kennedy said who played a handy role in his team’s welcome win against the Rockies.
On the other hand, the Rockies starter Jeremy Guthrie proved disastrous for his team. He went for 11 hits and seven runs along with seven earned runs including two homers. He was not confident in his 3.1 innings and his 6.35 ERA showed his inconsistent performance throughout the game.
After the game, when several reporters asked Guthrie couple of questions about his chances to remain in the Rockies rotation for rest of the season, he answered with complete briefness.
“If they kick me off the team today, it wouldn't surprise me, I haven't earned a spot here to pitch very well and I respect the game. I understand how it works. I have seen guys come up and do very well and earn it and I have seen guys who have done very well and lose it.” Guthrie said.
Rockies from start to end played under pressure and never showed any power plays. They remained scoreless and lost in the end. The Diamondbacks’ batting offence on the other hand, played certainly well and always seemed prepared for the win.
Leading into the second with two runs, the Diamondbacks continued their great run and made a further quick six runs to oust their opponents in style.
This win took the Diamondbacks to third position in the National League West ahead of the Rockies in the same Division. Though both teams have a minor difference of their winning percentages but still the Diamondbacks’ win loss record is better than the Rockies.
