Arizona Diamondbacks crush Colorado Rockies 6-1 – MLB Recap
The Arizona Diamondbacks crushed the Colorado Rockies 6-1 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, June 6 at Chase Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Diamondbacks with win are now right back into the series where they had lost the first game with 4-0.
In this particular game, the Diamondbacks played as one unit and gave the Rockies batters to score instead; they stopped their offence with full strength.
Especially, the Diamondbacks pitchers proved their valour and kept the Rockies under pressure for nine innings.
Winning the game in style, the Diamondbacks also ensured that the same pitching rotation will also be ready for the next game.
Starter Wade Miley was exceptional on the day when he thrashed the Rockies batting line up with great energy.
He proved unplayable for the Rockies for eight innings in which he gave only one run and three hits. He also maintained his 2.53 ERA and struck-out five Rockies batters.
First baseman Paul Goldschmidt also played well for the Diamondbacks kept the things on right track. He made two runs and three RBIs with his four at bats.
“Obviously, it's nice to get a little momentum, but we've got to continue to play well, We've had a few stretches where we've played well like we have these past two days, but as a whole, we haven't been able to put it together for an extended amount of
time. If we can do that now, it's a great couple of wins." Goldschmidt said after the game about his performance.
Rockies’ manager Jim Tracy seemed much disappointed when he spoke to the media about his team’s poor performance, "One run in the last two days with a number of strikeouts, not forcing the defense having to field the ball, was not a good night for us offensively
and defensively."
In the meanwhile, despite this loss, the Rockies are still running close with the Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks are third while the Rockies are in fourth position in the National League West Division with 24-32 win loss record along with .414 winning percentage.
Arizona will be looking to carry some of their winning momentum forward in the season.
