Arizona Diamondbacks crush Colorado Rockies 6-2 – MLB Recap
The Arizona Diamondbacks crushed the Colorado Rockies 6-2 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, July 24 at Chase Field in Phoenix.
Like in game one of their ongoing series, the Diamondbacks again held their opponents with great force and never allowed them any opportunity to find ways to make things difficult for Arizona.
On the other hand, the Rockies played poorly as they could not save the game which they could have won.
Rockies' entire roster including batters and pitchers did not play their natural game and never showed any fighting spirit during the entire game and eventually lost in the end with bitter humiliation.
Diamondbacks’ starter Joe Saunders pitched well and allowed only two runs and three hits while he also gave two earned runs on 3.51 ERA. He remained calm on the mound and struck-out nine Rockies' batters as he proved one of the winning factors for his team.
Later in the game, Saunders said, “I learned my lesson that you don't sleep on your left side the night before you pitch, I didn't think I needed to go on the disabled list. You never think you need to go on the disabled list. But I think they thought it was in my best interest and the team's best interest to do it.”
He added, “Every break you get is nice but I kind of take pride in not taking breaks, I felt like I was getting ahead so that was the name of the game tonight."
Meanwhile, Rockies' entire pitching rotation played poorly and lost in the end.
Starter Edwar Cabrera pitched 3.1 innings and allowed two runs and four hits along with two earned runs on his 11.12 ERA.
Relief pitcher Josh Roenicke was also hammered with two runs and two hits along with two earned runs. Like his team-mate starting pitcher Cabrera, Roenicke also looked tired and did not show his natural offensive game.
Later the Rockies' closing pitcher Rex Brothers was also hammered for two runs and two hits on his 3.99 ERA.
