Arizona Diamondbacks crush Los Angeles Dodgers 7-1 – MLB Recap
The Arizona Diamondbacks crushed the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-1 in the fourth and final game of their four-match regular series encounter on Sunday, July 8 at Chase Field, Phoenix.
The Diamondbacks’ played aggressively and earned a great victory. With this win, the Diamondbacks also won the series 3-1.
Though the Dodgers had won the first game of the series, the Diamondbacks not only bounced back in style but they also maintained a steady momentum which gave them the next three straight victories.
In Sunday’s game, Diamondbacks’ pitcher Trevor Bauer threw tremendously. He looked comfortable on the mound and tossed six innings and did not give up any runs. He received two hits and struck-out six Dodgers’ batters while his ERA remained consistent at
5.40.
“It wasn't really relief because I wasn't anxious or anything like that to begin with, I was throwing strikes today, making them hit the ball instead of being behind in the count. I felt completely healthy and could rotate my hip," Bauer said. "That allows
me to just focus on executing my pitches instead of trying to find my release point like I have been my first couple of outings."
"It gives us good momentum and a good feeling about ourselves going into the second half," said Arizona manager Kirk Gibson.
Relief pitcher Patrick Corbin also played well and earned a good win for the Diamondbacks. He tossed three innings and gave only one run on three hits. Giving one earned run and striking-out two Dodgers’ batters, Corbin’s ERA also remained persistent at
4.26.
Overall the game was played at a high pace but the Dodgers’ pitching rotation did not support their batting line-up and gave up seven runs in total.
Chris Capuano started the game for the Dodgers and could not help his team in the decisive game of the series.
He tossed five innings and received five runs on nine hits as well as five earned runs. He was also hit for a homer while his ERA remained at 2.91.
