Arizona Diamondbacks crush Los Angeles Dodgers 7-2 – MLB Recap
The Arizona Diamondbacks crushed the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-2 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, July 30 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
Third baseman Chris Johnson smashed a grand slam and proved one of the winning factors for the Diamondbacks.
"I just want to try to contribute somehow. I know I'm not going to hit a grand slam every night, so if I can just do the little things -- play some defense, run the bases, get some hits -- that's what I'm here for," Johnson said with confidence and told the reporters on his particular performance.
Johnson added, “I had a chance earlier in the game to do something and drive some runs in, and I kind of let the guys down. So I wanted to make up for that, It's not that I was trying to hit a home run, but anytime a guy gets walked in front of you on purpose.”
Along with Johnson, second baseman Aaron Hill also played well for the Diamondbacks and earned a great victory for his team.
He scored two runs on two hits while his slugging percentage also remained consistent at .497.
Not only batters, but the Diamondbacks’ pitchers also played terrifically and earned a great victory for their team.
From their starter Trevor Cahill to relief pitcher Craig Breslow, every player did his part in the Diamondbacks win.
Cahill pitched six innings and allowed only one run, six hits along with one earned run and struck-out four hitters on his 3.75 ERA.
Brad Ziegler pitched one inning and maintained his 2.43 ERA with complete precision.
Relief pitcher Takashi Saito also did well in his one inning spell as he received only one run and two hits along with one earned run.
On the other hand, Aaron Harang could not save the game for the Dodgers as he allowed seven runs, nine hits and seven earned runs along with two homers.
He was only able to strike-out one Diamondbacks hitter on his 3.76 ERA which literally proved disastrous for the Dodgers as they lost with bitter humiliation.
